Traveling in the Emirates by a Rented car

The United Arab Emirates is a small country. Its prosperity is connected with oil, and the dollars earned from its sale were thoughtfully invested by the local authorities in various projects. Thanks to this policy, where once there were poor settlements, huge modern cities with skyscrapers, shopping and office centers and resorts have grown. Here you can swim and even ski, a lot of interesting things for those who love shopping.

An interesting feature of the United Arab Emirates is that the road network is constantly evolving. This means that the latest updates to navigation programs sometimes do not have time to keep track of changes. In this case, it is better to enter the name of an object, not its address, into the navigator in order to find the route.

Parking lots: what to look out for

The situation with parking in the United Arab Emirates is not bad, but not ideal. Sometimes it happens that close to popular shopping malls and other such facilities can not find a place to park. But much depends on the time of day.

  • Parking near hotels and large supermarkets is most often free.
  • Parking near airports and large shopping centers can be paid, but there is often a free period, which lasts up to 3-4 hours.
  • Parking on the street in allowed places, as a rule, is paid during the day, and you have to pay in coins.

Where to go in the UAE by a rented car

The United Arab Emirates is a union of seven small states. There is something to see in each of them. However, you should know that the traffic rules and local customs may vary. Since the UAE has a very developed car infrastructure, the best solution is to rent a car. On the website of you can find a wide range of cars, from budget small cars to exclusive Ferraris and Porsches.

The largest emirate is Abu Dhabi. It has beaches, one of the largest mosques in the world – Sheikh Zayd Mosque, a huge art museum, theme park Ferrari World and many other attractions.

Dubai also attracts tourists. It is here that the giant skyscraper Burj Khalifa, the Burj el-Arab hotel and the Wild Wadi Water Park are located. Many people come to Dubai for shopping.

Sharjah is a more conservative emirate. Here you can look at the fish market, stroll through the oriental bazaars, visit attractions such as the Mosque of King Faisal and Al-Jazeera amusement park.

In the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, many people go to the beach vacation. Also here there are a lot of architectural attractions.

Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Qaiwain are not so big emirates. They are not as popular as Dubai or Abu Dhabi. But that’s a great travel plan to see sights, such as the National History Museum in Ajman, the Maritime Research Center in Umm Al-Qaiwain or the 17th century fort in Fujairah.

Many places in the United Arab Emirates can only be reached by car. Therefore, it is better to rent a car than to depend on transportation provided by a guide or to constantly order a cab.
