skin and hair healthy

Having a beach vacation can be pretty challenging for your skin and hair. When we hang out outside, exposed to sun and salty water all day long, we are putting our hair and skin through some pretty tough times. If you’d like to find out more on how to take care of your hair and skin during your summer vacay, read on.

1. Sunscreen is a must have

In order to keep your skin healthy, you have to improve your sunscreen game. The truth is, when you’re out in the sun for the entire day, it’s all about SPF. Protecting your skin from UV damage is of utmost importance, so be careful to invest into a great SPF. Get a lotion with the factor of 30 or above, since the lesser factors are quite ineffective in actually keeping your skin healthy. Also, apply it at least 15 minutes before you go outside. This way you’ll be sure that your skin has absorbed it and that it will have the most effect.

2. Conditioner will protect your hair

Your locks can also fall victim to sun damage. If you wouldn’t like to leave the beach with a dry, crunchy-looking head of hair, get a sun protector for your hair. Drench your hair with oil or conditioner before you go out. A true SPF isn’t needed, though there are products which are made especially to protect your hair from the UV rays’ damage. If you want to go an extra mile, you may get a summer scarf or a hat and be at peace that your locks will end up looking even better and refreshed after the long day at the beach.

3. Water bottle is essential

Water bottle

Even though you’ll be unwinding next to a giant body of water, you need to bring some more of it with you. When you’re out and about in the hot weather, you are sweating profusely. When we sweat, we lose the hydration in our bodies and being hydrated is essential for the supple look of our skin and hair. This is why you should get a big water bottle and replenish the water reserves of your body. Drink a sip or two every ten minutes for the maximum hydration, making sure you drink about two litres of water per day. For the maximum effect, you may even add some electrolytes to the water. If you want an even more effective boost to your appearance, a vitamin IV in Los Angeles provides essential vitamins and hydration. Treatment also detoxes you at the same time, giving your skin a naturally radiant glow.

4. Protect you lips

Protect you lips

Having cracked lips is one of the most unattractive things that can happen to your body after a day at the beach. Sun and salt have a detrimental effect in drying out our skin. As we mentioned, one way to battle the dehydration is of course to drink more water than usual, but when it comes to your lips you may need to do something extra to ensure they’re soft and cared for. Lip balms are a great way to do so. The skin of our lips is very thin and it can also get sunburned, so in order to protect it from additional sun damage you may want to look into special lip balms which are made for summer time. There are great lip balms with SPF on the market which we recommend for the full protection mode.

5. Post-beach care

enjoy vacation moment

In order to have moisturized and soft skin you need to invest in a good full body moisturizer. There are great lotions which are made especially for sunbathing after care. Most of them have aloe vera as one of their main ingredients. Aloe has a cooling property which will soothe your skin if you accidentally get sunburned. Additionally, it promotes healing so sun damage will be the thing of past more quickly.
