Best film – Power of the Dog

Costume Design – Cruella

Cruella is a stylish film that deservedly took home the award for best costume design. It features a backstory for Cruella de Vil before she became the villain infamous in The Hundred and One Dalmatians. Emma Stone shines as Cruella, and this is certainly a crowd-pleasing film.

Original Score – Dune

Dune was a stunning and cavernous feat of technical excellence in filmmaking. Unsurprisingly, its booming score took home the best original score award at the BAFTA’s. This film follows the epic sci-fi tale written by Frank Herbert and is all set to become one of the most successful new film franchises in recent years.

Animated Film – Encanto

If you’re looking for an animated film for the whole family to enjoy, then Encanto could be your best option. The winner of best-animated film follows a magical Colombian family blessed with incredible gifts. When their magic comes under threat, it’s left for the only ordinary member of the family to try and save them.

2021 was a superb year for films as the industry recovered from the pandemic and closed theatres. Just sift through any of the award winners and you should be able to pick a memorable film that lives in your memory for weeks and months to come.
