Anyone who takes an interest in the historic architecture will enjoy a few days wandering sites of Surrey. The influence of the Arts and Crafts era is still very much evident in the county, especially the architecture of Edwin Lutyens. Many of his masterpieces were built in Surrey, including Goddards in Abinger Hammer. Lutyens’ work was made additionally famous for his collaborations with garden designer, Gertrude Jekyll. Her approach to landscaping is showcased at her home, Munstead Wood, near Godalming.

There are many must-see places for you to explore within Surrey. As well as the great countryside, there are other sites steeped in history and many places to explore. There’s Guildford Cathedral, for instance, where you can take a tour and learn about its story. Brooklands Museum is the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation, with a variety of activities for families. You can even get lost in the maze of Hampton Court Palace, or take part in one of its guided tours.

One of the main concerns of tourists when visiting a place is reaching public means of travel. But you don’t have to worry about that in Surrey. You’re never more than 45 minutes away from London by train so, if you want an evening out in the capital, you can do so easily. If you have a car, you can drive to the city on the A3. Plus, it is located between both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. This is one of the most appealing reasons to visit Surrey.
